Le Vivant Miroir de L'Univers: Logique d'Un Travail de Philosophie.Stanislas Breton - 2006 - Cerf.
Je me suis (...)

Imagination: a study in the history of ideas.J. M. Cocking - 1991 - New York: Routledge. Edited by Penelope Murray.
Many writers have paid tribute to its power: Shakespeare urged his audiences to use it to create a setting; Hobbes asserted that "imagination and memory are but one thing; " for Wordsworth it was "the mightiest leveler known to moral world; " and to Baudelaire it represented "the queen of truth. " Imagination as artistic, poetic, and cultural predicate remains one of the most influential ideas in the history of Western thought. It has been simultaneously feared as a dangerous, uncontrollable (...)

    Edmund Husserl's Freiburg Years: 1916-1938.J. N. Mohanty - 2011 - Yale University Press.
In his award-winning book _The Philosophy of Edmund Husserl: A Historical Development_, J. N. Mohanty charted Husserl's philosophical development from the young man's earliest studies—informed by his work as a mathematician—to the publication of his _Ideas_ in 1913. In this welcome new volume, the author takes up the final decades of Husserl's life, addressing the work of his Freiburg period, from 1916 until his death in 1938. As in his earlier work, Mohanty here offers close readings of Husserl's main texts (...)

Measuring Consumer Perceptions of Business Ethical Behavior in Two Muslim Countries.J. Tsalikis & Walfried Lassar - 2009 - Journal of Business Ethics 89 (1):91-98.
After measuring consumers' sentiments toward business ethical practices in mostly Christian countries, the Business Ethics Index was expanded to two Muslim countries — Turkey and Egypt. The overall BEI for both countries was on the negative range, with Egypt exhibiting the widest gap between personal ethical perceptions and vicarious ones. No difference between genders was observed.

Prolegomena for Thinking of Kierkegaard as a Social and Political Philosopher.J. Michael Tilley - 2015 - In Jon Stewart (ed.), A Companion to Kierkegaard. Wiley-Blackwell. pp. 480–489.
This chapter begins with an examination of Kierkegaard's historical political contributions, before it describes and evaluates the ways in which some recent scholarship has understood Kierkegaard's positive contributions to social and political thought. It limits the examination to three distinct understandings—postconventional identity as expressed by Habermas, a politics of difference as expressed by Caputo, and religious teleology as expressed by Westphal—as three possible ways to understand Kierkegaard's contribution to social and political thought. The primary aim is to identify common features (...)

    The Ethics and Politics of Microaffirmations.J. B. Delston - 2021 - Philosophy of Management 20 (4):411-429.
The role of microaggressions has gained increasing philosophical attention in recent years. However, microaggressions only tell part of the story. An often-overlooked component of inequality is the uneven and unjust distribution of microaffirmations. In this paper, I give a new definition of microaffirmations as signals that a recipient belongs to some valued or high-status class. Microaffirmations can—but need not—lead individuals to gain a sense of confidence, belonging, and merit. I then explain the harms of microaffirmations, arguing that when microaffirmations are (...)

    Something false about conceptual metaphors.J. Nick Reid & Albert N. Katz - 2018 - Metaphor and Symbol 33 (1):36-47.
Although Lakoff and Johnson’s Conceptual Metaphor Theory has been influential across many disciplines, little research has tested the psychological reality of conceptual metaphors using established experimental memory paradigms. Here we employ an episodic memory task based on the Deese-Roediger-McDermott false memory paradigm to explore this possibility. We find that after reading lists of sentences based on underlying conceptual metaphors that participants are more likely to falsely remember the nonpresented conceptual metaphors themselves as well as new sentences consistent with the CM (...)
